de la Iguana in Akumal. Akumal is a small beach community located only an hour south of Cancun but a world away in ambiance. It sits on a crescent of intensely white sand along the turquoise blue Caribbean. Just off the beach, right at your front door, is the Great Mayan Reef where you can snorkle and dive among the coral heads and observe the variety of the creatures who live there. It is a great base from which you can explore the many wonders of the Yucatan Peninsula or you can just laze the days away on the beach or in your hammock.
